I am one sad bastard.

I was just looking back at that 1st thing I wrote and I realized a few things. First, it was a bit too long. Too long, in fact. I'm not sure any of you any of you read it (the whole thing). Actually, I'm not even sure if anyone has been visiting this site so far. Anyway, point is, it's too long so I'll try to keep it short this time. Shorter, at the very least. The other thing I realized was that I really did sound whiny didn't I?

Damn. Anyway, as of right now, we have a new Pope. It was pretty fast huh? Tha conclave, that is. And I was up last night watching...um, Conan O' Brien (Yeah, that's it! Haha) Nah, I'm just kidding. I really was watching Conan O' Brien. And just to prove it, last night was a rerun with William Shatner as the guest with La Bamba singing "In the year 2000...". So there. Moving on, so there I was watching Conan, when I suddenly switched channels and ended up at ANC with the screaming headlines. I switched to the other channels and moments later, I heard the announcement. Now I didn't rally understand Latin so I wasn't too sure if a name already came up and I just missed it. But then, the crowd wasn't that wild yet so go figure.

But then I heard the name: Ratzinger. Oh, I thought, so it's him then. I wasn't really surprised, since he was the single name most thrown around the week before. But then I've gotta admit, before the announcement, I was holding my breath and somewhere at the back of my mind, I was hoping for the guy to call out "Vidal". Hey, it was a long shot but you never know huh? And besides, it couldn't exactly hurt our image as well.

Oh well, but Benedict the 16th it is. More of the same it is conservative values which had for one reason or another, been a factor in our poor, developing nation's failure to accept the realities of poverty and overpopulation thus having maintained a close-minded, "theoretical", and "let's just pray it works" sort of solution to these problems. Oh well, he's here so let's just pray he does the best he possibly can.

Personally, looking back now, I would've wanted Bergoglio, the Argentine to win. Simple really, those Latin bishops were really the most open minded ones when compared to the stiff view of most European cardinals. Plus, it also helped that he was a Jesuit. Xavier was a Jesuit. But alas, we have to face the fact that the underdog only wins in the movies. (Well actually, they do in real life as well, sometimes. This wasn't one of those times).

Betcha all thought I didn't care much about this stuff huh?

In the meantime, I still can't help wondering what William Shatner did see in the year 2000.

Well folks, this is it. MY FIRST BLOG (yay!). Today, I'm officially cool. If i were a worm, I'd be a cool worm. If i were a pair of slippers, I'd be a cool pair of slippers. If I were a cow, well you get the idea... Anyway, I'd love to go on telling you whatever it is people normally put into these things like how summer's set in and how really bored I am and how I decided to finally put up my own blog site so I could typity-type my thoughts and feelings and whatever else people put in sites like this for everyone who bothers to read this (yes, all three of you) BUT before you see me going "Hello World" or something, I feel I've got more pressing issues to attend to. Consider this my public service deed for the day, if you will. I'd like to say something to all those people who are contemplating on putting up a Blog site of their own, probably for similar reasons as I. If you already have one, I have absolutely nothing to say to you. But read on anyway, as you probably know what the hell I'm talking about.

Putting up a site like this is not that simple. In fact, it's downright fucked up. Pardon my french, but the thing is, when I decided to start putting up my own page, I more or less expected it to go something like this:

1.) Think of a really cool username.                                                                      2.) Check that little box which says you agree to their terms.                                      3.) Start yapping away like a chihuahua at the sight of beef. Or whatever it is chiuauas yap about.

"No computer knowledge required!," they say. "Balls," I say. Somehow I didn't quite expect all these options to pop up and make me pick one in order for me to "maximize my Tabulas account" so as to distinguish my site from the good number of other people out here who's sites are like it. Some of these options range from the fairly simple (Like choosing which Smilies Set I'd prefer. Yellow Face or Red Face? Green Face or Blue Face? The possibilities and infinite!) to the fairly complicated (Like the option to create my own personalized Template, assuming of course, I attained minimal knowledge in HTML. I knew that First Year computer class was good for something) to the fairly mundane (Does anyone mind telling me who, or what exactly a Myers-Briggs is? Please?). All these and about a bajillion other options from Radio Directories to Usericons to AIM Logging have been a bit to much for my peanut of a brain to fully understand. Granted, I'll probably familiarize myself with most of these options in good time, but cmon, the point is I just want to write! How compicated do these guys want to make that for me??

OK fine, actually, I'm not being entirely fair here. I'm pretty sure there are a lot more blog sites out there who offer much a simpler interface for dumbasses like me. In fact, I actually signed up for some of them as well. In the end, I made my decision, deleted my acounts in the other sites and left this one standing. Good Jeebus, I could hear you thinking, this guy sure is dumb. And whiny too, choosing a site far too complicated for his Mr. Planters-sized intellect and having the nerve to whine about it! Now now, before you get that idea, I'm not really whining about anything, it's more like saying something about something. Right? Good. Now that that's settled, I also had my reasons for choosing this site.

Now I chose Tabulas for two reasons: The first being the obvious one: The name. Cmon, Tabulas, how funky does that sound? It reminds me of this old movie Cool Runnings where John candy and his Jamaican kids try to think of a name for their sled and some guy suggests Talula and all the other guys make fun of it. Turns out it was the name of his mother (I know Talula isn't really pronounced with a "B" but bear with me here. In the end, they named it Cool Runnings, thus the name of the movie).

The other reason I chose this site is that it was the only one where my username was available. Apparently, the_last_don had already been picked up in all the other sites except this. I rather like my username. Wy suggested it and almost instantaneously, I decided it was the one. (See Wy, I told you you were gonna get your special mention! :D). I always wanted to be called "The Don". I secretly knew though, that once I announced this, the only people who would still bother to talk to me would be my parents, and they'd still call me Don!

The Last Don, for those of you who don't really read that much, is a book by the late Mario Puzo. It was turned into a movie and was playing in HBO some time ago. It's really good. So I hear. I haven't read it of course, but I guess now that I've blatantly ripped off the title, I'm gonna have to soon. Oh, I haven't seen the movie either.

Well folks, that's basically it. It can be worth noting that this blog took me three days to finish because the damn site keeps screwing up. I hope you all enjoyed reading that because after this, I'm not gonna bother to blog another damn thing again. We now return you to my standard first blog.
