Welcome, welcome, welcome, this is the grand opening of my new page on Islamic Cross Stitch! Thank you so much for visiting my site, I do appreciate it!

I have been interested in Cross Stitch ever since I completed my first kit as a young girl, at about the age of 11 or so. I quickly became hooked on cross stitch, and when I didn't have enough money to buy the bigger, more complicated patterns, I set about making my own patterns, to reflect my Islamic religion. I still have a couple of small pieces I did as a child â most of them were designed to say âAllahâ in English.

Over the years, I have dabbled in making designs as well as stitching them. Every once in a while I would come across Islamic art work that seemed perfectly matched for a cross-stitch piece. If I was able, I would try to plot it out and stitch it, and in the Completed Works Album, you can see what I was able to come up with over time. I also worked with coming up with my own artwork and converting it to cross stitch â you can see that as well, in the designs that abound here.

Fast forward to now, I am married with two young children, and have been working on and off on a number of cross-stitch related matters, especially since I am at home with them, with a bit more time to work on cross stitch. Over the years, As I have stitched various pieces, I made sure to keep copies of the patterns, tweaking them here and there, and so now, I have patterns available for most of the pieces you see on this website.

I am currently working on a number of things: This website has been a big step in terms of helping me to document my work and make it easily viewable and accessible to others.

Iâm in the process of making kits available for some of the smaller, easier to stitch pieces, so that the kits could even be used by arts and crafts programs for children. With that comes making them publicly and widely available as well. Also, I'M always researching what information there is on the web about the history of Islamically oriented cross-stich. Plotting out and stitching new pieces is a continuing process, and in fact the most enjoyable part of working with Islamic cross-stitch!

This has taken me about three weeks. I had posted a whole bunch more information about this piece, but apparently it got erased somehow. More when the piece is finished, God willing.

Although I have only been primarily exposed to cross-stitch as a practiced form of embroidery in this country, North America, I have found elements of cross-stitch embroidery in many Middle Eastern/Islamic designs for clothing and other accessories.

As the world turns into more and more of a melting pot, more and more cultural elements are becoming blended together. Modern Islamic X-stitch is a representation of this.

Personally, I have been intrigued with cross-stitch ever since I received my first pattern and completed it - oh, some twenty years ago now. In my late teens, I began experimenting with ways of producing Islamic designs.

Check back often if you are interested in my progress! Patterns for almost all peices are available, with prices for the patterns varying based on how complex they are.
