Day 7: the PM update

My month widget doesn't seem to be working right. Hope they get it fixed.

Am finally back on top of the word count for today, yayness. Silly LNO yesterday set me back from the 1 day's lead I used to have. Write or Die really helps.

Will (probably) skip supper after church tonight and do more writing in case tomorrow gets busy. Tomorrow looks something like this:

0900 breakfast and last minute practice for vocal classes
1105 body jam
1315 vocal classes
1415 lunch
1500 get to work to answer those queries (i don't know how long this will take)

Yeah, it doesn't look like much right NOW, but believe me, time really gets out of hand when you think that you have a lot of 'down time' in between (which I don't).

Right now, I should have dinner. Church is at 7.30.

And as an aside, my mouse really sucks. It doesn't click right anymore. Both the one at home and the one for work. Time to get new ones.

That's smart!

I do brilliant things all the time. Like telling myself I will work on the script tonight, and then realising after coming home that I should have brought my laptop home because THE SCRIPT IS ON IT. Yay, me.

It's a tie for today, with the score at Bee: 1, Worm: 1.

And apparently fictionpress is down, or something, so I can't finish uploading the story. 2 more days to November, I can't say I'm hyped. I don't know if I have the time. It seems as if everything is piling on and my attempts to block out time into proper segments has failed dramatically. Well, not dramatically, but still, FAIL!

I will definitely have to sit down and write tomorrow. If only the characters weren't eluding me...

so she said

So I re-read last year's NaNoWriMo effort (which actually DID reach 50k words) and decided that I liked it after all.

So I'm posting it up at fictionpress. It's called "so she said".

So it's whimsical and fanciful and you may not like it, or you may think I'm really off-tangent. But I like it, so there.

But only the first chapter is up because the uploaded eats my apostrophes. And it's late, and I'm tired, and I thought I wouldn't have to edit it, but I do.

So you will have to wait for the rest. It should be up before November.

Anyone game for NaNoWriMo this year? You've got another 10 days to plan for it, or you could wing it.

I think I'm winging it.

THE QUESTIONS:

• How did you meet 10? (Raymond)
Um, online, through Lex (no. 12)? And randomly in college.

• What would you do if you had never met 6? (Simeon)
I don't know. I wouldn't have someone to commiserate with during late nights.

• What would you do if 20 and 17 dated? (Vivien & Doreen)
It would be the talk of the office!!!! Hahahahahaha. Impossible. They are both straight.

• If you could marry between 6 and 14 who will it be? (Simeon Koh & Samuel Kuek)
Wah, difficult to answer. One of the SKs. Hahaha.

• Did you ever like 9? (Puey Guan)
Hmmm... that's a tough one.

• Have you ever seen 4 cry? (Pei Ling)
Not that I recall.

• Would 4 and 12 make a good couple? (Pei Ling & Lex)
Nah.... They might make good writing partners though!

• Would number 1 and 2 make a good couple? (Yuin & Josh)
Well, they could come up with awesome shows together :)

• Describe 8 (Susanna)
Friendly. Writerly. Passionate. Cool.

• Do you like 12? (Lex)
If I didn't like her, I wouldn't have given her a nickname :) and she wouldn't be on this list. Haha.

• Tell me something about 18 (Yong May)
She's my cousin! And I got this meme off her blog!

• What's 7 's favorite color? (Ee Laine)
Ah, I dunno.

• What would you do if 1 just confessed they liked you? (Yuin)
Of course she likes me. She called me from Edinburgh :D

• When was the last time you talked to number 15? (Jimmy)
Sometime online, probably a week or two ago.

• How do you think 19 feels about you? (Yik Phing)
We mutually trade insults. Haha.

• What languages does 13 speak? (Ziggie)
English, Mandarin, Malay? Hokkien, i think?

• Who is 2 going out with? (Josh)
No one as far as I know.

• What grade is 16 in? (Solo)
Working.

• What is 5's favorite music? (Rowen)
I dunno. Jazz? Or something emo. HAHAHA

• Would you ever date 3? (Francis)
A long time ago maybe, but he's taken. Btw, he's been friend, boyfriend, husband and... uncle through several family nights.

• Is 1 single? (Yuin)
Yeah

• What is 10's last name? (Raymond)
Yong.

• Would you ever want to be in a serious relationship with 7? (Ee Laine)
Define serious.

• Where does 18 live? (Yong May)
Sea Park, PJ.

• What do you think about 20? (Vivien)
Backside. HAHAHAHAHA. On the crazy side.

• What is the best thing about 4? (Pei Ling)
My fellow anti-vegetarian! Very thoughtful. :)

• Is 21 hard-working? (Judson)
Um. I dunno?

• What would you like to tell 14 right now? (Samuel)
Err... can't think of anything

• How did you meet 9? (Puey Guan)
iBridge camp. Remember him from '07, but only talked to him from '08 camp onwards because he picked us up from Deb Lee's place.

• What is the best and worst thing about 2? (Josh)
The best: music maestro

The worst: lameness.

• Are you going to know 3 forever? (Francis)
If he forgets me, I'll smack him.

• How long have you known 26? (Paul)
Knew of him since 2004. Knew him in 2005, about.

• Who is 24? (Dih Haw)
Sitiawan guy who is (apparently) still in Penang, I think. College mate, makan mate, JRian.

• Are you or did you ever date 28? (Thern)
Err. No. Unless suppering counts.

• Do you have a crush on 27? (Rachel)
No!!!! No!!!! Please la, I only crush on guys. Haha.

• Would you kiss 25? (Jasmine)
I don't know.

• Have you hugged/kissed 22? (Noel)
No.

• Is 29 ur bff? (Christine)
No, sorry.

• What do you hate about 23? (Gabe)
When I don't know whether he's being serious, lame, or whatever.

• What's your relationship with 30? (Ker Tyng)
Colleague.

• Describe 11. (Hwei Yee)
She's really sweet. :) And hardworking. And funny. And tall.

---

Ohkay.

And believe me, the numbering was random.

disillusionment

And as the song echoes in my head, You think that I don't even mean a single word I say, it's only words and words are all I have to take your heart away, it settles somewhere deep in my psych, asking me, but what do you really have to say?

In "A Sci-Fi Writer's Manifesto", Graham Storrs elaborates a very often ignored point:

3. Do not write if you have nothing important to say.

I would like to be able to answer the question, “What is your book about?” with a statement of its idea rather than with a list of action scenes...

Setting myself the task of saying something important isn’t all that hard. There are many things I’ve learned in life, many things I want to say. I feel I have a contribution to make to understanding the human condition. It sounds pompous and arrogant, I know, but there it is. What kind of a person would I be if I had learned nothing? How much of a waste would my life have been if I could contribute nothing? And what is writing for if it is not to communicate ideas?

What will I be saying come November? What kind of ideas should I be writing about? What do I really have to say?

I really don't know.

Titles are something I'm bad at...

So I wanted to write, but I couldn't think of anything.

Facebook is a HUGE MAJOR distraction, and I think, if I get round to downloading it, it's the first thing that's going into Temptation Blocker, at least for the month of November. (Can I just block photos, though? It's the main thing I stalk. Well, besides farmville at the moment, and I totally blame Doreen Ong for that.)

As usual, I have ideas swimming in my brain, but it's not coming out. At least not in the 15 minutes I have left before I need to go out, AGAIN. (Well, I had 1 hour earlier, but that was taken for fb-ing, and catching up on #NaNoWriMo / #amwriting tweets. :_

I need to structure my life.

Anyone wants to help with that?
