This is why I'm a man-hater

Arggh!!! I am sooo pissed!!!

Who we are as persons today is often influenced by our past experiences. I just have to let it out that I extremely detest my father. Harsh? Not really, if you know the man. He is actually not a bad father. I'm sure there are worse dads out in the earth.

Anyway, one quote that fits this post is "The best thing a man can do for his children is to love their mother." Apparently, he does not. Ugh. He hits her and throws things at her. Admittedly, the physical abuse did lessen over the years. But recently, whenever he gets in his *moods* (which is about once in a week) he gets really violent. Whenever he manages to control violent outbursts, he just verbally abuses her with curse words (in front of their 3 kids, and the housekeeper), demeaning statements (the asshole really sucks). AND he displaces his anger by hurting the dog. (I'm also an animal lover and hate people who abuse animals with a passion!)

I used to write down his physical and verbal altercations with mom on pieces of paper and kept them under my drawer. Unfortunately, I threw all of it out when I was cleaning out my drawer because it was an unusually good month at our house.

The bad thing is, my sister exploded (not literally :)) when mom and dad were fighting. She shouted that she hates dad because he's SUCH a bad father. And I said, actually, it's more of a BAD HUSBAND. My mom was telling my sister to stop. I believe it's stupid and fits into the abused wife stereotype. They protect their husbands and believe they can change. I don't.

I just wish he would just GO already. Change or die, dad. (I already said I believe he won't change) Right now, mom does not have what it takes to leave him.

Hopefully, someday we will get to have peaceful lives.

P.S. I know that not all guys are like this.

SoWar.vbs

Okay, so the past month has been a blissful blur (quite redundant) of case presentations, research proposals and duties. Due to the huge number of requirements, several which are group work, USBs are used often. A USB can travel from one laptop to another, even to the dreaded public internet shop. Most often, this results in your usb's infection.

One of the more prevalent viruses I have seen on campus and at the nearby computer shops is the sowar.vbs virus.

So what does this virus do to your computer?

- it changes the name of the Internet Explorer Browser to SoWar Browser (or something similiar)

- it also changes your homepage to redtube.com (a porn site) [you can't change this manually w/o removing the virus first, as far a I know]

- it DISABLES you from accessing the TASK MANAGER and REGISTRY EDITOR. This of course makes it a bit harder to remove the virus.

- it reruns itself when you restart the PC

So how do you get rid of this virus permanently?

METHOD 1

I found this on a site, but this was not the method I used. I'll place it here so you can check out if it works for you.

It is a virus to remove it follow:
1. load command prompt
2. go to root directory (eg. C:)
3. Type: attrib -s -h -r -a autorun.inf, , then press Enter
4. Type: dir then press Enter. This will display if Autorun file is present.
5. Type: del autorun.inf, , then press Enter
6. Search for and remove sowar.vbs, SysRes.vbs, Cool USEP Scandal.vbs
7. You may need to change the directory to root of C:, type: cd \, then press Enter
8. Type: attrib sowar.vbs.* -s -h -r -a, then press Enter
9. Type: dir /s sowar.vbs, then press Enter
10. If the file is present, type: del sowar.vbs, then press Enter
11. Repeat the above commands for each drive on your computer including your flash/usb drive.
12. Repeat these instructions to search for and delete SysRes.vbs, Cool USEP Scandal.vbs on each drive if present.
13. Exit the command prompt by typing “exit” and reboot your computer.

METHOD 2

Okay, so this is what I did. (Thanks to the mighty help of the internet :))

*Note: This is a compilation of various methods I found on the web I didn't find out about this by myself.

1.) Go to My Computer or My Documents and go to the Tools tab, then go to Folder Options. Under the View Tab make sure that Show hidden files is checked. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files

2.) Open drive (By right click and select Open/Explore. DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK!) Delete autorun.inf and SoWar.vbs (Press Shift+Delete) in all drives including external drives. Open folder C:\WINDOWS to delete SoWar.vbs inside (press Shift+Delete )

3.) Download Process Explorer here. Once you have downloaded and run process explorer, search for the process wscript.exe. TERMINATE this process.

4.) Download RRT.exe. This is a.k.a. Remove Restrictions Tool. Run it and remove the restrictions on Registry Tools and Task Manager by checking them and clicking Apply/Remove

5.) Now, go to your Start menu and click Run. Type in regedit or regedit.exe

Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> Current Version --> Run to delete SoWar.vbs(press Delete key on keyboard)

Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Internet Explorer --> Main to delete Window Title “SoWar Browser” (press Delete key on keyboard)

6.) Since this virus replicates itself upon start-up you should go to Run (again) then type msconfig. In the Startup tab, disable or remove Sowar.vbs

7.) Restart your computer. Update your antivirus, antimalware/spyware program, then do a full scan.

Lastly, always remember that prevention is better than cure. :)

Hope this helps. If you have any problems, feel free to interchange the sequencing. of the steps.

Pet Peeve

After a long hiatus from blogging, I couldn't help just talking about how much I dislike how some people like to pose with their alcoholic beverages in tow. It's fine when you take a picture of yourself drinking a shot or two, but to just grab a bottle of brandy or tequila as a 'prop' for a photo just gets me so annoyed. To me it's so poseur, even though I'm sure not all people who do that want to exclaim "Hey look at me, I'm drinking liquor!!!". It just comes off that way. To me, at least.

Okay, I'm ranting.

BTW, I have several friends who do the aforementioned 'pose-with-an-alcoholic-beverage' thing. It's driving me nuts!!!

I feel nothing

I cannot believe after several years of having that "fluttery, heart-skips-a-beat thing" feeling when I see this guy, wala na! Hahahaha! I saw that guy one time tapos wala, wala na kong nararamdaman. I guess you can call that feeling "kilig" or something. Anyway, it no longer applies to me when I see him. :)

I hope that's the last...

Finally! I'm finished with my duty in JPR. Hopefully, I won't have to go back to that eerie place again.

Hope I get a good grade. :S

The list of awardees for the previous sem has been posted. Fortunately, Jacq and I are still there. Sana hanggang graduation, diba? :D

Ang odd talaga. Dani went to our room to give me the manila papers and the report which I was tasked to write. However, I was in the middle of sleeping so she woke me up. According to her, I pulled her towards me. Sabi pa niya, sabi ko "Oo, oo" when she was telling me about the thing that I was supposed to write. The next day, when she asked if I was finished I gave her a totally confused look. Wala talaga akong naalala. As in kahit a little fragment. Elai also said that I clapped her on the back and said "Elai gising!!" and when she did I went right back to sleep. I also don't remember that. How weird! :S

Grabe! first time ko magabsent in a long, long time. :S

Ngayon ko pa lang gagawin yung journal for tomorrow. I spent the entire day in bed, sleeping. I only left my room to eat and take my meds.

Anyway, there's this guy texting me and ang dami kong nasayang na load replying to him. So syempre di na ko magrereply ngayon. Nakakainis talaga! Tapos super scary/creepy pa. He knows me but I don't know him. Plus, ayaw niya sabihin kung kanino niya nakuha yung # ko. Nakakainis talaga!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Finally, after several months, years of waiting, of yearning to know what would all happen at the end...

I absolutely loved this book! It was, in my opinion, the best from the HP Saga.

I started reading the book Sunday at 10:30am (though I had read a few paragraphs while Jacq was still reading it) and finished at 1:30am the next day.

I'm surprised to know most of my assumptions were correct!

I absolutely blocked spoiler possibilities and did not go on the internet for a while during the wait for the release. I knew I would be tempted.

Anyhow, I was right about some things namely, (no obvious spoilers, don't worry)

1. Who RAB was

2. Whose side Snape was on

3. the couples that would end up together - too obvious, though

4. Which student would return to Hogwarts as Professor

5. What really transpired on the night Dumbledore died

I can't remember anymore.

What I was completely shocked about were the deaths.

Some non-human creatures that I loved died. :(

SPOILER WARNING!!!

One of the Weasley's died. (Of course, there were too many of them and if all survived it would be a little weird.) This saddened me soooo much.

-END of SPOILER

A great deal was mentioned about Dumbledore, Snape and the Potters. These were all amazing.

I can't wait to reread the book again. (Adik! :D)
