yesterday my mum took me to the dermatologist.
as many of you know, i have been blessed with mostly good skin. my mum however, decided that since i was breaking out a bit that i HAD to go get it cleaned up and start an intense routine. anyways, it was highly unpleasant as dr. amerian went at my forehead with a scalpel.
so, in other news, i went shopping with Guru Parkash -- American Eagle was having a very good sale, they had t-shirts for only $5. i picked up grahammy from school and got hugs from billie and bruno, graham\'s most feminine friends. it\'s pretty funny that graham is convinced that bruno is gay, well i guess he does love reading trashy teen-girl novels, and is obsessed with fantasia from american idol. hmmm.
went to a tasty thai restaurant with GPK and family, and had very yummy green tea ice cream. always a treat.
the lakers lost, twas sad.
today grahammy graduates! i am going to cry! i will miss UES very much.

david\'s welcome message

i\'ve read this thousands of times, but i think that at one point in everyone\'s life they must read david\'s bowienet welcome message.

\"David, we really need a new welcome message.\". the chaps at Ultrastar hinted, and being busier than a busy thing, I reminded them that I\'d provided one, just a short...Blimey! Fourteen months ago! My, my, time do fly.

I\'m writing this in similar circumstances to the last welcome message. As I gear up for the 2003/2004 world tour, (World Tour? -- I must be truly crazy) I still feel very good about the shows we did last year, and if the audiences for this tour are anything like they were in 2002, I\'m going to be a happy man indeed. Didn\'t we have a blast?

I\'m so pleased with the way the sessions for the new album have been going, and I know you\'re going to love this one too. Can\'t wait to play this stuff live and see what the band can do with it.

My routine means I do still check this place out every morning, and though I may not have been around as much as I\'d like to have been, we have got some great stuff coming up for you and I AM going to come in for another chat before the madness starts again.

Thanks for your continued support everybody. It really means more to me than you\'ll ever know. Sorry, but I have to dash now, TV is screaming at me for some overdubs.

See you in chat, or out there somewhere very soon,

Love to all,

DB

this is why i luff british people...\"busier than a busy thing,\" \"BLIMEY!\"
you don\'t know how much this sells bowienet for me, i actually have seriously thought of spending $60 just so i get a year of bowienet perks! i need help. i really do.

in other news, today i have a tennis lesson (which is greatly needed, i have to practice so sandro doesn\'t laugh at me too much in italy) and then i am seeing my good friend Guru Parkash, which shall be loverly and fun.

yesterday i went shopping with jackie, and cleaned out my drawers. when she was holding up things asking whether i wanted to keep it or not, i must have looked completely horrified when she held up my bowie shirt, then she looked at it and said \"oh my god! how dare i?\" ooo, that was scary.

tommorow is grahammy\'s graduation (::tear::) my little brother is growing up! he\'s going to harvard westlake next year -- he will be in MIDDLE SCHOOL! i just found out that his friend he made at the ISEE tutoring class will be going to HW with him. this friend, who is scottish and who i think is named elijah calls graham \"teddy grahams!\" that\'s the cutest nickname I have ever heard.

friday should be paul\'s birthday party...will call/email gabby very soon, to make plans and decide which paul songs to put on our compilation.

mariya -- you ARE coming, whether you like it or not, as is jenny and emily.

sunday = LEAVE FOR AMSTERDAM. or as I like to say, HAMSTERDAM! unfortunately no berlin, but amsterdam and antwerp will do more that make up for that. ant-werp is a fashion capital and it is in belgium, how random is that!?! they speak belgique, my dad said, well mainly english, but what in the world is belgique (i highly doubt that that is the true spelling) i can\'t believe i missed DB in amsterdam by a week. you all know i would have forced my parents to take me.

got cambridge junk -- very exciting.

last night\'s dinner conversation

My Dad: \"oh graham, billie and emily called, they told me to tell you to bring your guitar. i told them that you and chris were in the shower.\"
Graham: \"you did!?!?\"
My Dad: (laughing) \"yeah\"
Graham: \"now everyone\'s going to think i\'m gay!\"
My Dad: \"oh and Bruno called too\"
Graham: \"did you tell him that chris and i were in the shower?\"
My Dad: \"yes\"
Graham: \"did he say \"can i join?\"\"
My Dad: \"oh, and ollie called\"
My Mom: \"he must have said: \"oh my god graham! you take showers? that\'s so immature. you are a such a conservative republican!\"

then we all laughed. graham and chris were taking a shower together -- but who didn\'t take showers with their friends after swimming in 6th grade, i\'m pretty sure they had on their bathing suits.

other highlight of last night\'s dinner:
Graham: \"Chris\'s dad discovered Bob Marley and spread Reggae around the world. My dad made a movie about a chimp that can fly airplanes. which one is cooler?\"

happy birthday ringo!

so today was the super fun event of ringo starr\'s birthday party.
it was fantastic, we watched ringo-rama and help, and went to the tudor house for some tea and shepard\'s pie.
ringo-rama was very sweet -- especially Never Without You, a tribute to George. aww! Ringo Rama is better than i thought it would be, i quite like it. Never Without You is such a beatley tune, and has such heart. ringo is the heart of the beatles, he keeps the beat! haha.
help is my new favorite movie. it is HILARIOUS!
highlights:
1. with a ring like that, i could, dare i say it, rule the world!
2. the many ways they tried to get ringo\'s ring, especially the one with the hand dryers that sucked off their clothing
3. their house. i am going to live there one day
oh, it was all good. george looked especially handsome during \"i need you.\" oh, it was exciting.
i just purchased Scary Monsters and Super Creeps from Circuit City today, i like it very much so. well, it already has ashes to ashes and fashion -- how bad could it be? but i am loving the first track, it\'s no game (part 1) with the girl speaking japanese. i think it\'s very cool. and the little insert makes me happy, because it has david dressed as a mime.
tried to watch day after tommorow, but could not get through it. decided to clean my room instead, which is so much fun. i actually quite enjoyed it though, because i got to throw out all of my books and binders. ahh, it felt good.

like emily (elladin_sane), i have given into peer pressure and created a livejournal. i can\'t stand it, everyone but emily has abandoned tabulas for this silly little thing called a livejournal. i guess i\'ll keep both -- it\'s not too hard to copy and paste.

so anyways, i am very excited ::cough:: not ::cough:: to make this switch.

so liam just left -- i unfortunately had to ignore him for a bit, as gabby called about the ringo party and we had much to figure out. he was okay though -- he just played blackbird and let it be on guitar. he\'s gotten very good, and has a really snazzy orange guitar. it was fun singing along, though i sounded terrible.

so, am seeing the hanks/mattie today, twill be fun.

so, welcome to livejournal jane.

thankyou jane.

no problem.

PS: www.livejournal.com/usesrs/davidluffsyou

New York New York (Continued)

so...where was I?

oh yes, Yale. Yale was great -- my dad and i had loads of fun. we visited the digital arts media center -- they had many great facilities, then we met with the admissions guy (!). the meeting was very unexpected, my dad and i thought it would be a quick hello, but he ended up taking us up to his office and talking with us for a bit. it was pretty funny, as he was basically pitching to me how great of a school Yale was, and how I should definitely come there. well, i kind of knew that Yale was a great school. my dad whispered to me: \"maybe they\'re expecting me to die and leave a lot of money.\" that was great. anyways, unless he was really flattering, Marlborough has a great reputation. he knows them all -- wagner, scrumbis, burnett, etc. and he seems to really love the school.

then we went to some art museums there, went to atticus books, and to louis luch -- the first and the best hamburger in the United States. oh it was good.

then we caught a train at around 3, and went straight from the train station to this nickelodeon thing for lemony snicket. it was very exciting, i met steve oedekerk (i am not going to even try to spell his name) which was amazing for me, as this video of his was an obession of grahammysand mine. and best of all: I PLAYED BLACKJACK WITH SPONGEBOB AND PATRICK!!! well, actually the voices of spongebob and patrick, but it was still very exciting. SB and P did a scene from lethal weapon that was pretty great. jefferey tambour was also there -- he\'s playing king neptune in the spongebob movie. he looks so much like mr. scrumbis, but (no offense mr. scrumbis) he was so much cooler. we spent a good ten minutes talking about how much we love Prince. he was hillarious -- he said he cried the entire time, and hugged the guy next to him. then my parents presented a series thing -- which was so great. JUDE LAW = MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE I HAVE EVER HEARD. i couldn\'t stand it he had such a beautiful accent! ahhh...i swoon every time i think of it. but you know what, his looks match his voice, as jude is gorgeous. but the accent is half of it really. Now think of this Shaggy Bear: Jude\'s gorgeous voice \"Klaus loved to read books, and everything he read he remembered...\" with a beautiful shot of liam from the back on a beach reading, with weird trees coming out of the water. yes.

then we went to dinner at a restaurant called the cub room -- it was very tasty.

the next morning we did a quick shopping trip to all of these furniture stores, which was actually quite fun as i love 60\'s furniture.

on the plane ride back i watched school of rock, the last waltz, and an episode of the office, as well as reading some more murakami. i came to a wonderful epiphany at the end of the plane ride, and would love to share the thought processes with you all:

1. i was flying over los angeles, so i started thinking about LA
2. then i thought of that saying, I love LA
3. then i thought, does NY have a saying like that? well, actually I love NY is kind of a saying
4. then i thought, well if \"New York\'s In Love\" had been a bigger hit, maybe that would have been a saying.
5. then i thought, \"well david, New York\'s In Love is one of your most annoying songs in my opinion, you know, i don\'t really care for Never Let Me Down, it was kind of a low point in Bowie\'s career.\"
6. with Never Let Me Down in mind, when i saw i was on page 87 of my book, i thought of thesong \"87 and Cry.\"
7. then i thought, \"maybe i could use that to remember something, like i used db record release dates to remember the dates of the revolutionary war.\"
8. then i thought \"hmm, i\'ll be doing European history next year\"
9. then i came to this fascinating realization...

SCHOOL IS OVER. SUMMER IS HERE.

New York New York (the REAL DEAL)

wow, must have had one too many cosmos -- don\'t remember posting that last entry at all! and my my do I lie sometimes, as none of that happened.

here is the true story:

we had a 9 o\'clock flight monday morning, which i spent reading. i am so addicted to murakami books right now, i finished sputnik sweetheart on the plane and now am on to dance dance dance. i am determined to read every single one, they are wonderfully bizarre and japanese.

we got into new york at around 5, where we checked into a lovely hotel. that evening we walked to a restaurant in soho -- balthazar -- where we met the tweedy\'s, david tweedy being my dad\'s best college friend and band mate. the tweedy\'s are loads of fun -- i love the whole lot of them.

the next day my dad and i woke up at a 7, in order to catch the train to new haven at around 8. that was hard -- as it was like we were waking at 4 and had stayed up past midnight the night before. we had a lovely time though, and bought a special rolling stone issue of the 50 moments that changed rock and roll. it started out GREAT with many wonderful pics and stories (including the opening of the ziggy stardust tour, according to rolling stone lou reed actually DID kiss david, after an interview. it also had sgt. peppers, exile on main street, etc...) but then really went downhill once you got to the 90\'s, nsync etc.

we got into new haven and my dad took me on his own tour of yale. it was really great having him as a tour guide -- \"here\'s where tweedy and i wrestled...\" the yale campus is absolutely gorgeous, i was utterly impressed.

okay, need to go, will continue after the terminal premiere (exciting!)
