winter vacation~~

Actually, I've been on vacation for about two weeks now. Still, I'm a lazy blogger so it took me awhile to remember that I actually have a blog....*rolls eyes* lol....

I know I haven't been blogging a lot lately, actually, I only blogged four times (counting this one) since school started in September.

Anyway, wish everybody a happy Chinese New Year. Mine is going well...not too much excitement but that's okay. I don't want anymore people shoving food down my throat anymore.

I haven't done much for the vacation except shopping and sleeping. Speaking of that, I'm going shopping again tomorrow....*dies* I'm getting really sick of shopping right now >_< I'm bored!

Well, gonna talk later. I kinda want to change my layouts so I'm going layout-shopping for now....bai!

Well, the holiday is around the corner and I finally have a couple days to breath.

For the most of this semester, I had spent most of my time studying or working for the student gov't. To make it simple, I don't have a social life. >_<;;;

Anyway, I have tests coming up next week again, and will be plunged into another three weeks round of tests until the end of semester.

Good bye to my Xmas and farwell to my New Year~ *sigh*

oh gosh....

Anyway, my first exam of the semester is coming up next week, actually, it's a week from today. Honestly, I'm looking forward to it. I need to get my mind off all these depressing things I've been thinking lately.

Gosh, for one, things from last year started haunting me again. I remember the cruel words I had said and how awful I felt inside. And I still remember those people who made me said those words. And of course, I'm meeting them soon again for the semester because we are a part of an academic "family." Sorry, I've explained that before and I really don't want to lapse into that story again.

Well, we have a new freshman joining the family and I really really wish that I don't have to see them again afterward. But I still do, because we are all interconnected by our friends, there's no way I can hide from them >_< Ugghh...I just hope I'll have a better time talking to them this year than the last year.

Yes, I'll admit it. I'm afraid of people talking bad behind my back. I know what that's like. It happened to some of my friends before and I don't want to be the next. I am a people-pleaser, and please, just let me please you okay. Just don't find any wrong with me, alright? Because I won't have it from you. Whether you were wrong in the first place or I was, you had already pass my threshold of tolerance. Please, even if we don't like each other. Let us pretend we do. That's fake, but that's life.

school started!

And it sucks. Geez, I thought last semester was tough but this semester isn't much better >_<;;;

Today is the second day of school and already I feel like going nuts. I had pathology in the morning in which the teacher taught us how to identify the cause of death from corpses. Then the afternoon was bombarded with microbiology in the la-la land of bacteria. AHHH! Too much for me to handle right away >_<

Oh well, I better brace myself for tomorrow. oral dissection...ooh....not bad though, I went through that last year ^^;;; But I don't remember which group I'm in....whatever...

I just got back from CA last friday and currently suffering from jet-lag. Not severe, but enough to push my bedtime a couple hours earlier than it should be. Well, gotta go now....bai!</;;;

</;;;

today>

eye exam & book reviews & crochet

I went to see an optometrist (forgive me for my spelling, it's probably wrong) today, actually, I saw him earlier this week when I WAS suppose to finish my eye exam, but obviously, I didn't.

Basically, I went to a new clinic this Monday to get more contact lens, and when I got there, I forgot the brand of lens I used to wear so I need to get new ones as well. So today was kinda a check-up on me to see how the lens fit and to finish the eye exam.

And the lens? Fitted horribly. I was constantly being remined of their existence in my eyes, not a very fun experience. Anyway, he switched me over to Acuvue 2 which felt a lot better because the old ones I used to get, Surevue (I asked my mom to look it up for me XD), was being discontinued. Ugh, such luck!

So we continued on with my eye examination which only consisted of one last thing. Dilating my pupils. It was a scary experience. The doctor put two kinds of eye drops into my eyes. One of them which made the eyes sticky and stung for a minute, another one was for the dilation of pupils so he could see inside my eyes and tell whether my eyes were healthy or not.

Then he informed me like three times about having a pair of sunglasses out because my pupils would stay dilated for a couple of hours and would be light sensitive. But now that examination was all over, I felt like giving myself a eye wash to wash that solution out. Ech! Still feel a little nasty though.

And another thing, I couldn't see stuffs close afront now with my contacts in, so supposely if I want to do some reading, I should be able to do it without glasses or contact lens. Wow... how nice....how unbelievable....but still, I think I'll try not to read a book now.

Speaking of reading, I've been reading a lot lately here in my sister's apartment.

1. The Da Vinci code by Dan Brown
2. The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
3. Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin
4. The Queen's Fool by Philippa Gregory
5. The Autobiography of Vivian by Vivian Livingston
6. Vivian Lives by Vivian Livingston

And then, I'll have The Other Boleyn Girl for the next few days. Wow...that's a lot of books I read over the past two weeks....wait...maybe one....

Well, alright, The Da Vinci Code...hmm? Do I really have to say anything about that? I think the book itself speaks for itself. It's quite a suspense, and I do enjoy learning a lot about arts from the book and the questions surrounding Jesus and Christianity.

Well, the second one on my booklist, hmm....I admitted it, I brought it because it was on bestseller for a long time. It's a witty book with some of African warmth and color...yet, I don't find the detective works to be as intriguing as Detective Conan (XD....hahaha....comparing that to a manga/anime....^^)

#3....Well, this book would have be one of the best book I've read if the reviews hadn't give it away. The author Ira Levin, was the one who wrote the Stepford's Wives...yes, that movie with Nichole Kidman. Rosemary's Baby started out as a young couple trying to move to a upper class neighborhood. Yet the neighborhood wasn't that friendly with its past residents being child eaters, Satan worshipping...etc. Ack! I think I gave it away....yes, it's a horror book. Although not particularly happy with knowing it right up front (and reading the ending even before I get to it), but it did give me a shudder from time to time.

Ah....The Queen's Fool....I wanted to read this book for like two years. It's a good book, but I think I read too many of this kind to know the pairing right away...not good on my part. Other than that, the book was kind of slow, but I felt sympathy with every character in there, except a couple, but those are minor characters...XD I felt sad for Queen Mary and what she had gone through her life and not getting the fairytale ending that she had hoped. Still, this novel radiated with something so strongly about independent women. Yes, it was setted in 16th century but Hannah for one, was a strong woman with her own thoughts. It made me wonder.....is it really possible for a woman like that to exist in 16th century? Hmm...

#5 and 6....well, it's another one of those romance novels. Not bad, sometimes you get some insight, but it's more for the laughs.

Sorry, can't do much with book reviews. I'm not really good at giving them ^^

Other than that, I'm learning how to crochet from my sister. It is fun. I'm making a scarf now but I keep missing stitches so it's getting narrower as we're speaking about it. Ugh...I hate that. Sorry, but I'm a perfectionist. I'll take a picture of it later ^_~

belated resolution for 2005

hey, I was off internet for the summer because I actually had a dial-up connection at home (it'll be changed next semester to ADSL) so I don't like to surf online anymore. And then, I went back to Seattle for a week and a half and there's no internet there as well since I was too lazy to go to the library, and I spent a couple days dead tired of the jet lag. But not to worry, I'm back now at my sister's apartment in Santa Barbara.

I got to say, this place is really beautiful, and totally unbelievable, I guess. Well, maybe it won't be something if you see the beach everyday, everywhere, even on the university campus. Wow....that's nice.... But I'm a little worry about the sun though. Although I don't oppose to tanning and stuff, but I do hate getting sun burn. Not to mention that being pale white is the real beauty once I'm back in Asia. Oh please.... Asian women are going out of their way to make themselves look perfect in everyway. Sometimes I really think it's a self-torture.

I actually saw a television show that started off an introduction of what fashion had make the women become. Starting from the corset in Europe, foot binding in China, and then, modern time----high-heeled shoes. Who invented them? Are they really for beauty or that's just an excuse to make them bearable?

I'd been wearing high-heels for over the past months, and already I had noticed some pains. My back got tired easily and felt sore. And after watching that introduction, I tried to get myself off high-heels, but they had become addictive to me.

Am I really that short? Maybe for 5 foot 2 (nearly 160 cm) but I'm still average for Asian women. Yet, the height became utterly unsatisfying when compare to those models on television. So the heel just gets higher and higher. And it could go higher but I'm trying to put a stop to it. For my health and for comfort as well. In honestly, almost none of my shoes fits me completely and perfectly, except my tennis shoes and sneakers.

So right now, although the New Year was half a year ago, here's my resolution. Avoid high heels....if that's possible. Hmm...maybe next time I'll try to get myself off make-up. *sigh* what a price to pay for beauty.

wow....

wow...there goes half of my summer away. Anyway, I'm still in Taiwan taking physiology class over again. *sigh* it's quite boring but mostly because I can't stand eight hours of class one day a week. It's too intense for me. But I only have two weeks left so I'm not too far away from my summer vacation!

Well, for this summer, I'm gonna spend two weeks in Seattle and then rest of my summer with my sister in Cali. Yes! My first visit to california. Allright! Although I don't know anything about CA....hahaha ^^ lol....

I'm back ^_^

hahaha...I was done with finals last week but I took a little rest because I was in a really bad mood. Well, the good news is that I pass my org chem, bad news is that I flunked my physiology course as a result. That wasn't in my expectation but oh well, I'll have to get over it. I'm feeling better about it right now. At first, I wasn't. I spent a couple of days crying over it, but I have move on. whew...I should.

Right now I'm in the middle of preparation for dental camp. It wasn't as busy as last year, I hope that for good not for worse. Still, I have to be working or keep myself busy. *sigh* whatever. I hope the camp is all worth it. ^_^
